James O'C. Gentry, Jr., Esquire

Founder and CEO

James O'Conor Gentry Jr. is a seasoned trial attorney with over thirty two years experience in the legal arena. Mr. Gentry has tried over 120 jury trials.  

While serving as a police officer for nine years, Gentry obtained an M.A. degree in law and forensic science from George Washington University. He then graduated from the University of Baltimore Law School where he earned his Juris Doctorate. While at Baltimore, he was presented with the American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence.


In 1984 Jim joined the Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office where he litigated numerous high profile cases. As a prosecutor, he developed a unique combination of expertise in the use of computer technology and graphics at trial. In 2006 Jim joined a premier plaintiff's law firm, Bekman, Marder and Adkins, where he applied his unique technical and legal skills to the firm's complex medical malpractice, wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases. Jim continues to lecture at various law schools in the Baltimore and Washington area, as well as, a number of bar associations across Maryland.

W. Stuart Battle, M.D.

Medical Advisor

Dr. Battle received his M.D. degree from the George Washington University and went on to serve residencies at the University of Rochester and the University of Illinois.  He is board-certified in General Surgery with a special interest in trauma surgery. His experience includes an Assistant Professorship at the University of Illinois and 30 years as practicing General Surgeon.


Dr. Battle served as Director of Emergency Medical Services for the Council of Governments in Washington, D.C.  He also served in the U.S. Army as Director of the Burns, Shock and Trauma Division of the U.S. Army Medical Corp.  While there Dr. Battle worked closely with the Surgeon General of the Army.


His medical-legal experience includes being qualified as an expert witness in medical malpractice cases in forty-three States, where he has given trial testimony. He has given presentation to the American Trial Lawyers Association on several occasions.  He has extensive experience working with medical illustrators in preparation for trials.

Marie T. Dauenheimer, MA, CMI, FAMI

Custom Medical Illustrator and Animator

Marie’s professional background includes a Masters Degree in Medical Illustration from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She is board certified in medical illustration (CMI) and a Fellow of the Association of Medical Illustrators (FAMI).

Marie is active with her professional association, the Association of Medical Illustrators; she is a past Secretary and Director to the Board of Governors. Marie is an advisor and former Trustee for the Vesalius Trust for Visual Communication in the Health Sciences. Marie is a Past President of the Illustrators Club of Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia and currently serves on their Board of Directors.

Marie is a frequent lecturer at colleges on the history of medical and anatomical art. She organizes educational “Art and Anatomy” tours throughout Europe for the Vesalius Trust. The tours carry CEUs and include attendance at the Association Européenne des Illustrateurs Médicaux et Scientifiques conference.

Joan M. K. Tycko, MA, MBA, CMI, FAMI

Custom Medical Illustrator and Animator

Joan’s professional background includes a Masters Degree in Medical Illustration from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a Masters of Business Administration in marketing and international business from the University of Texas at Austin. She is board certified in medical illustration (CMI) and a Fellow of the Association of Medical Illustrators (FAMI).

Joan, an active member of her professional association, the Association of Medical Illustrators, is a past chairman of their PR committee and annual meeting coordinator. Joan is an advisor and former vice president and treasurer for the Vesalius Trust for Visual Communication in the Health Sciences.

Joan, an award-winning scientific illustrator, was named the 2004 Inez Demonet Scholar for “outstanding merit and potential in the field of medical illustration” by the Vesalius Trust for Visual Communication in the Health Sciences. In her spare time she enjoys teaching astronomy to local elementary school students and creating portraiture.
